ISLAND WORDS
Glossary
A guide to the terms used throughout island life.
Rules version v1.0.0- Turn
- One island update, corresponding to one real hour.
- Main action
- The single per-turn reservation slot for development, fundraising, evacuation, and other main actions.
- Support action
- The single per-turn reservation slot for repairs, resource trading, or emergency response.
- Held action
- An action that could not run and is waiting for you to rebook it into an empty future slot.
- G
- The currency unit used within Hakoshima.
- Operating balance
- The result of normal operations, accounting for changes in unpaid costs. It differs from cash movement that also includes development and other changes.
- Unpaid costs
- Operating bills that could not be paid. Later income pays them down; while they remain, they affect development and the workforce.
- Actual workers
- Worker equivalents based on facilities' final operating rates, rather than the sum of all facilities' full staffing requirements.
- Effective level
- A facility's level adjusted for capacity reductions such as damage or pausing.
- Reserve target
- The food, materials, or cash you aim to retain. Targets also inform normal development and automatic trading decisions.
- Trade capacity
- The total resource quantity traded per turn, shared by food and materials, buying and selling, and manual and automatic trades.
- Storage capacity
- The food or materials held without excess-storage losses. Stocks above the limit lose a portion of the excess each turn.
- Emergency response
- Advance action against fire, drought, or food shortages. It is separate from repairing existing facility damage.
- Minimum cash
- The lowest cash balance within a forecast turn, useful alongside the closing balance when checking whether payments can be made.
